Color Kindle Shows Yellow Display Issues
Amazon’s first color Kindle is facing an early setback with some users reporting a yellow strip at the bottom of their displays.
The $289 device began shipping in late October and is Amazon’s attempt to capture a new audience: comic and graphic novel lovers.
Several buyers have taken to Reddit’s online forum to voice their dissatisfaction, reporting a yellow color band near the screen’s bottom edge.
“The discoloration stands out against what should look like paper,” writes one user. Others note that the issue surfaces when using the edge lighting feature.
Amazon’s website reflects the growing frustration, pushing the product’s rating down to 2.6 out of 5 stars.
According to some Reddit users, Amazon’s customer service team says the issue stems from software rather than hardware. “We take product quality seriously and are investigating these reports,” Amazon spokesperson Jill Tornifoglio told The Verge. “Customers who notice this issue should contact our support team.”
The company hasn’t shared how many devices show this flaw. Some buyers report success with device exchanges, while others opt for refunds.
Those keeping their Kindles describe varying levels of disruption – from barely noticeable to “too distracting to use.”
