Zoom Rebrands as AI-Focused Work Platform
Zoom just got a new name. The tech company has dropped the word “Video” and now calls itself Zoom Communications Inc. It’s a strategic shift toward becoming a broader AI-driven platform for hybrid work.
While Zoom became a household name during the Pandemic, the company now wants to be known for more than just video meetings. Its new focus? Making work easier with AI.
At the heart of this change sits Zoom’s AI Companion. A digital helper that takes notes during meetings, writes emails, and handles day-to-day tasks. The company also rolled out Zoom Docs for file sharing and Zoom Phone for business calls – all packed with AI features.
The timing makes sense. Big tech players like Microsoft and Google offer all-in-one workplace tools, and Zoom must ramp up.
The company has split its products into two main groups: Zoom Workplace for team collaboration and Zoom Business Services for customer support.
Money-wise, Zoom’s bet seems to be paying off. Their latest numbers show a 4% bump in total sales, with business customers spending 6% more than before. Wall Street likes what it sees, backing the AI push with strong investment.
But this isn’t just about a new name on the door. Zoom wants to change how we work. It wants its AI to handle the boring stuff while we focus on what matters. Need meeting notes? AI’s got it. Writing follow-up emails? Done. The company has even suggested that the new apps might even shrink the workweek by making everything faster.
